Description: | This portrait of Stadholder Prince Frederick Henrik of Orange (1584-1647), paired with a portrait of his wife, Amalia van Solms, is after the Dutch artist Michiel Jansz. van Miereveld (1567-1641), a popular portraitist at both the Orange and Bohemian courts in The Hague. The head and shoulders portrait set within a feigned painted oval was typical of the artist. Frederik Hendrik is shown in an embroidered and slashed grey doublet, with a lace collar and the Lesser George badge of the Order of the Garter suspended from a ribbon around his neck. | Subjects: | portrait (Prince Frederik Hendrik of Orange) | Source: | Vads | Creator: | Artist: Miereveld, Michiel Jansz. van (Dutch painter, 1567-1641) Æ Attributed to after Previously attributed to school of Somer, Paulus van, I (Flemish painter and printmaker, 1576-1621) | Identifier: | http://www.vads.ac.uk/large.php?uid=8572... | Go to resource |
