Description: | Jan Steen was so famous for his depictions of riotous peasant and middle-class households that the Dutch expression 'a Jan Steen house' is still used for describing such a menage. This relatively well-behaved family of peasants saying grace, although typical of Steen's style and subject matter, is somewhat feeble in execution and is probably the work of one of his many imitators. | Subjects: | figure; interior; animal (dog); everyday life | Source: | Vads | Creator: | Artist: Steen, Jan (Dutch painter, 1626-1679) Æ Attributed to manner of Previously attributed to school of Steen, Jan (Dutch painter, 1626-1679) | Identifier: | http://www.vads.ac.uk/large.php?uid=8619... | Go to resource |
