Description: | The painting depicts four putti. The two winged putti on the left look up sorrowfully, one playing a small viol and the other grasping a sheet of paper. The two un-winged putti on the right are involved in making a small cross. Small flowers, possibly carnations, lie at the putti's feet. The putti, particularly the one of far right, are vaguely reminiscent of the angels and putti in the religious scenes of Francesco Solimena (1657 - 1747), the leading painter in Naples after the death of Luca Giordano. The hand is not recognisable and is probably a lesser known artist working in at the end of the seventeenth or beginning of the eighteenth century. | Subjects: | religion; figure | Source: | Vads | Creator: | Artist: Italian (Neapolitan) School Æ Attributed to Attributed to German School Attributed to French School Previously attributed to Italian School | Identifier: | http://www.vads.ac.uk/large.php?uid=8622... | Go to resource |
