Description: | Signed: yes Description: Adriaen van Ostade was a pupil of Frans Hals and Adriaen Brouwer in Haarlem, and he was a member of the Haarlem Guild of St Luke by 1634. He painted animated scenes of peasants smoking, drinking and gambling, as well as more tranquil domestic genre scenes. Later still, he concentrated on landscape. Most of his paintings are signed and dated.
