Description: | Signed: yes Description: A painter of predominantly marine subjects, Lepine was heavily influenced by his master Corot and the Impressionists, with whom he exhibited at their first public showing outside the Salon in 1874. His interest in changing effects of light and atmosphere and his use of free brushwork, rapidly applied, demonstrate that the painting was executed outdoors (en plein air). In treatment of paint and composition it recalls two of his works both entitled Chemin de Campagne of 1876-1880 (collections Petit & Muller, Paris). | Subjects: | landscape | Source: | Vads | Creator: | Artist: Lépine, Stanislas (French painter, 1835-1892) Æ | Identifier: | http://www.vads.ac.uk/large.php?uid=8750... | Go to resource |
