Description: | Franco Zuccarelli was described in his own lifetime as one of the three painters dominating the market for landscape painting. When in England, he became a founder member of the Royal Academy, and he especially satisfied the taste of British collectors. With the Romantic revolution in painting, his light, airy manner of painting which laid no emphasis on representing real places, fell out of favour. The Watering-place near a Village, with Figures, Cattle and Sheep is a typical example of his art of variations on the theme of classical landscape composition. | Subjects: | landscape | Source: | Vads | Creator: | Artist: Zuccarelli, Franco (Italian painter, 1702-1788) Æ | Identifier: | http://www.vads.ac.uk/large.php?uid=8776... | Go to resource |
