Description: | The youngest daughter of Henry IV of France and Marie de Médicis, Henrietta Maria married Charles I of England in 1625. The Queen was portrayed by Anthony Van Dyck on many occasions. This painting may be an early copy after one of those portraits. The white satin dress and the jewellery worn by Henrietta Maria recall her attire in the portrait etched by Johannes Meyssens in the 1630s. This copy is probably by the same hand as the Portrait of Olivia Boteler Porter, which is also in the collection of the Bowes Museum (O. 88). | Subjects: | portrait (Queen Henrietta Maria) | Source: | Vads | Creator: | Artist: Dyck, Anthony van (Flemish painter, 1599-1641, active in England) Æ After | Identifier: | http://www.vads.ac.uk/large.php?uid=8924... | Go to resource |
