Description: | The still life elements assume much great prominence in the foreground than the mother and children at the back of the patchily lit room. The emergence of Duyfhuysen is entirely due to the research of Willem van de Watering, who has identified a small group of pictures all masquerading under different attributions. Duufhuysen specialised in small genre paintings which show a variety of influences including the Fleming David Teniers, with whom his pictures appear to have been confused, as well as with painters of the Leyden school, especially Pieter van Slingeland and Ary de Vois. | Subjects: | everyday life (cottage interior domestic scene); still life; figure | Source: | Vads | Creator: | Artist: Duyfhuysen, Pieter Jacobsz.
