Description: | The Three Kings presenting their gifts to the Virgin and Child are in the centre of an imaginary landscape, which is depicted from a bird's eye view. Crowds of people are arriving from either side, including European, Asian and Oriental types and exotic animals such as camels and an elephant. A pentimento is in the background (upper right): four figures crossing the frozen river have been painted out. This scene, painted on three joined horizontal panels, depends on the Adoration of the Magi by Pieter Bruegel the elder (c.1556, 114 x 163 cm, Musées Royaux des Beaux-Arts, Brussels). | Subjects: | religion (Adoration of the Magi) | Source: | Vads | Creator: | Artist: Brueghel, Pieter, the younger (Flemish artist, born 1564 or 1565, died 1637 or 1638) Æ Attributed to | Identifier: | http://www.vads.ac.uk/large.php?uid=9190... | Go to resource |
