Description: | Signed: yes Description: In this self portrait, the artist has painted himself with his head and shoulders facing three quarters right, but with his eyes turned to look straight out of the painting. He has a moustache and is dressed in a jacket, with a shirt and tie. This is one of over 90 artist's portraits and self portraits commissioned by Alexander Macdonald (and after his death in 1884 by his wife) from the artists whom he knew and/or admired. The portraits were of uniform size (Macdonald supplied each artist with the stretched canvas). | Subjects: | portrait (Haanen Cecil van) | Source: | Vads | Creator: | Artist: Haanen, Cecil van (Dutch painter, 1844-aft.1873) Æ | Identifier: | http://www.vads.ac.uk/large.php?uid=9195... | Go to resource |
