Description: | During the First World War essential transport jobs like bus and train driving, were classified as 'Reserved Occupations'. These workers were only released when their skills were urgently required for military purposes.
At the outbreak of war Mr GE Morris was a bus driver with the London General Omnibus Company. He was too old to join the bus convoys going to France so remained in London. This certificate permits him to wear the War Service Badge awarded to those carrying out vital war work at home. | Format: | image/jpeg | Publisher: | London Transport Museum | Rights holder: | Copyright unknown - London Transport Museum Collection | Subjects: | Transport London at War | Temporal: | 1915 | Source: | London Transport Museum | Identifier: | http://www.20thcenturylondon.org.uk/rser... | Language: | en-GB | Format: | image/jpeg | Go to resource |
