Description: | This picture was taken in the early 1970s in Trafalgar Square. The fountains and Nelson's Column are in the background, but the focus of the shot is an unusual yellow double-decker bus.
The R.M. Routemaster, normally red, has been painted yellow as part of an advertising campaign for the Yellow Pages telephone directory. Buses had displayed advertising throughout the 20th century, but all-over bus advertising was new in the 1970s.
This bus carried the Yellow Pages livery from April 1971 to April 1973. | Format: | image/jpeg | Publisher: | London Transport Museum | Rights holder: | Transport for London | Subjects: | Cityscape Identity and Icons | Temporal: | Apr 1971 - Apr 1973 | Source: | London Transport Museum | Identifier: | http://www.20thcenturylondon.org.uk/rser... | Language: | en-GB | Format: | image/jpeg | Go to resource |
