Description: | The electricity supply for London's tram system was generated in power stations and distributed to the track through substations and roadside 'feeder pillars'. This feeder box was on a route operated and maintained by London County Council Tramways (L.C.C.T.). Known also as 'section boxes', they contained switches that turned the power on to its own piece of overhead wires. It was often also linked to a telephone that connected to the nearest local substation.
