Description: Pale white jade bowl, hollowed and carved with gnarled branches of prunus blossoms issuing from underneath. This design was very popular during the late Ming. It seems unlikely it was used as a drinking bowl as it is difficult to handle. It might be a brush washer for the scholar’s studio object or purely ornamental to show off the craftsmanship of its carver or the wealth of the owner | Format: | text/html | License: | http://www.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/terms.htm | Publisher: | The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, UK | Rights holder: | The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, UK | Subjects: | cup jade | Source: | Fitzwilliam Museum | Creator: | The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, UK | Identifier: | http://www.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/opacdire... | Language: | en-GB | Format: | text/html | Go to resource |
