Description: The Piet?, carved wood in high relief. The Virgin is seated with the body of Christ, naked except for a loin cloth, across her knees. The head of Christ is supported by St John, who stands on the left. The short figure of Mary Magdelene, holding a jar of ointment, stands on the right, with the long trailing end of her headdress caught over her left arm. The faces are expressionless and poorly carved. | Format: | text/html | License: | http://www.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/terms.htm | Publisher: | The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, UK | Rights holder: | The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, UK | Subjects: | sculpture Unknown relief | Temporal: | name=early 16th Century; start=1500; end=1500 | Source: | Fitzwilliam Museum | Creator: | The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, UK | Identifier: | http://www.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/opacdire... | Language: | en-GB | Format: | text/html | Go to resource |
