Description: | The scene on this small plaque is inspired by Greek and Roman art and depicts two young women offering a prayer in front of a classical altar. The woman to the right is holding a heart, suggesting the scene is one of a quest for love. It is not known whether the picture represents a classical tale or whether it was an original idea of the Bilston enamellist who made this piece. The plaque is made of copper that has been coated with white enamel and painted in enamel colours. A carved wooden frame decorated with gold leaf surrounds it.
