Description: | The title deeds in this series relate largely to a property called 'Styches House' in Cock Street, Wolverhampton. The street was previously known as Tunwell Street, but had become Cock Street by the time of Isaac Taylor's map of Wolverhampton in 1750, and the deeds in this series begin in 1729 when it was already described as 'Cock Street otherwise Tunwell Street'.
The property is described in the title deeds as follows:
A messuage called 'Styches House' in Cock Street otherwise Tunwell Street, Wolverhampton, with buildings, gardens, and stables belonging to it; a pasture called the Roundabout Leasow near to Merrydale; a small parcel of garden ground adjoining the Roundabout Leasow [in one of the deeds this land is described as adjoining the 'Steelhouse']; a large pew or seat, being the front pew in the gallery against the south wall of the Church of Wolverhampton [St Peter] near to the pulpit; also another little pew under the window in the gallery. | License: | http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/uk/ | Publisher: | Wolverhampton Archives | Rights holder: | Wolverhampton Archives | Temporal: | 1729 - 1818 | Source: | Black Country History | Identifier: | http://www.blackcountryhistory.org/colle... | Go to resource |
