Description: | A row of retail premises about to be demolished in Darlington Street. The modern building of Clarence House on the junction with Birch Street can be seen to the right. The premises that are distinguishable include from left to right: the Wesleyan & General Assurance Society, the Masonic Hall, Camille the hairdressers and H. J. Dain the shoe retailers. The row was being demolished to make for the building of the Ring Road. Darlington Street was cut through in 1821 and named after Lord Darlington, who later sold the land to the Town Commissioners. | License: | http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/uk/ | Publisher: | Wolverhampton Archives | Rights holder: | Wolverhampton Archives | Subjects: | Photograph Photographs Buildings Streets | Temporal: | Jun 1966 | Source: | Black Country History | Identifier: | http://www.blackcountryhistory.org/colle... | Go to resource |
