Description: | A view of Darlington Street from Queen Square. To the left in the distance can be seen the distinctive dome of Darlington Street Methodist Chapel, and the spire of St. Mark's church in Chapel Ash. The junctions of Victoria Street to the left and North Street to the right can also be distinguised. Other notable retail outlets are Green & Hollins (right) and Johnsons Dyers (corner building on junction with Victoria Street). Note the policeman directing traffic (opposite Johnsons). Darlington Street was cut through in 1821 and named after Lord Darlington, who later sold the land to the Town Commissioners. | License: | http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/uk/ | Publisher: | Wolverhampton Archives | Rights holder: | Wolverhampton Archives | Subjects: | Chapels Photograph Streets | Temporal: | 1930 | Source: | Black Country History | Identifier: | http://www.blackcountryhistory.org/colle... | Go to resource |
