Description: | An area of Whitmore Reans and Low Hill was chosen by the government to be a City Challenge Area in 1992. The project aimed to :
secure new industrial, office & retail developments
develop commercially successful leisure attractions
focus on the area's key status as a gateway to Wolverhampton from the motorway network
improve employment, education and training opportunities for local people
There were seven programmes:
Employment and enterprise development
Education, training and access to employment
Health care and health promotion
Crime reduction and prevention
Housing
Environmental renewal
Community development
The project lasted from 1 Apr 1992 until 31 March 1998.
