Description: | There is one series of registers arranged chronologically. Register was for new streets, proposed land use, change of use of premises and new buildings from garages and extension to new factories and housing estates. Registers contain, in the front of each volume, an alphabetical index of those individuals and organisations lodging planning proposals, with the plan number. The main part of the register consists of a plan number, date the notice was received, description of the plans, date of by-law approval, date of town planning approval, or disapproval, dates of singing off of commencement of work (form 2), covering up of foundations (form 3), covering up of damp proof course (form 4), covering up of drainage (form 5), dates and furthers of any other particulars and inspections, date of completion (form 6) and date of issue of habitation certificate. Plan numbers changed over time. Originally all plans were given a numerical sequence until around plan 1767, May 1948. At this time the original sequence continues but another sequence starts concurrently, for plans passed through Town Planning (the exact change in numbering is not recorded). Not all of these criteria were recorded. If the plans were withdrawn, that is also recorded. In Apr 1966 a new sequence starts when Aldridge merged with Brownhills UDC, but with the same dual plan numbering system as before. There is some overlap between volumes for the Town Planning number and in 1972, a P was placed before the number, however not there appears to be gaps in the sequence especially in later volumes. In 1973 an X appears at the end of some numbers, this maybe because the plan was withdrawn. |
