Description: | The edge of the medal is inscribed "240628 PTE. F. L. YARNOLD. S. STAFF.P" and was awarded to Private Frederick L. Yarnold. This British War Medal was the most common medal issued to British troops. It was issued to military personnel for having served in a conflict abroad. It features a picture of King Goerge V in profile, surrounded by the legend "GEORGIVS V BRITT. OMN. REX ET IND: IMP:" The reverse of the medal features a depiction of St George, armed with a shortsword and naked on horseback. The horse is treading on the Prussian shield next to a skull and crossbones. A sun is visible in the upper edge, and the dates of the conflict, 1914 -1918. The ribbon for this medal is a central orange strip, flanked by thin strips of white, black and then blue.
