Description: | The Library holds over 180 archive collections. Most of them are fairly small collections, many contain material in a Slavonic language and quite a few contain or consist solely of photographs. All of the collections come from individuals or organisations with a connection to the areas studied by the School. The following collections contain material relating to theatre.
Bulgarian Theatre Collection (undated): photographs from a Bulgarian Exhibition The 100th Anniversary of Bulgarian Theatre with a list of captions, 1 envelope containing 36 photographs. The language is English and access is unrestricted.
Glenny Collection (1919-1991): This collection consists of sound recordings of interviews with Russian emigres that were recorded and transcribed during the preparation of The Other Russia and other material such as memoirs and press cuttings collected for the same purpose. A further collection consists mostly of manuscripts, periodicals, press cuttings, theatre programmes, correspondence and notes relating to Russian literature and theatre.
Malnick Collection: This is material relating to a PhD thesis presented to SSEES by Bertha Malnick entitled The origin and the early history of the theatre in Russia.
Russia Theatre Programmes Collection:
This collection contains theatre and opera programmes from Ekaterinburg and St. Petersburg 1912-1913;
Trans-Siberian Railway dining car menu, 1915; International Sleeping Car and Express-Train Company leaflet of Far Eastern services, wth map and timetables, 1919. I envelope containing 10 pieces - language English.; There is a printed guide to all collections, as well as detailed catalogues and indexes for many individual collections.
