Description: | A collection of over 300 scientific instruments, models and other pieces of teaching equipment used in the Physics department at University College, Dundee (1883-1954), Queen's College, Dundee (1954-1967) and the University of Dundee (1967-present). Much of the equipment dates from the earliest period and can be identified from a 1910 inventory of equipment held in the department. This includes material used by the earliest professors of Physics, JEA Steggall, JP Kuenen and William Peddie, and by students including Robert Alexander Watson-Watt. In the 1950s new equipment was purchased to equip the new Electrical Engineering labs in the Ewing Building and some of that is also represented in the collection.
