Description: | This picture probably shows the Loch Aber hills in Scotland. Patrick Nasmyth originated in Scotland, though he spent most of his career in London. Patrick Nasymth was a deaf artist, who lost his hearing early in life as the result of illness. This view is painted in his characteristic style, which was modelled on Dutch 17th-century paintings. The picture includes many of Nasymth's favourite features - old, bent trees, an overgrown stream, and an old sign on a roughly made pole. | Publisher: | Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums | Temporal: | Production date: 1824 | Source: | Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums | Creator: | Patrick Nasmyth | Identifier: | http://www.twmuseums.org.uk/artonline/se... | Go to resource |
