Description: | This division of the Collection includes violins, violas, cellos, basses, kits, viols, bows and hurdy-gurdies with circa 80 instruments, circa 70 bows, and also some instrument-making tools. The objects allow a good representative display showing the history of bowed string instruments as used in Western Europe over the of the last three hundred years including an unaltered baroque violin.
