Description: | The archives of the University of Edinburgh, its affiliates and predecessors (such as the Royal (Dick) Veterinary College and Moray House College of Education). Although early material dates from the 16th century onwards, the bulk of holdings date from the 19th century.
There is no neat separation between collections of University Archives and the other collections of manuscripts, archives and personal papers held by Special Collections. Generally speaking however, the institutional records, the student clubs and similar are classed as University Archives while the likes of personal papers, business records and historic manuscripts are classed as being Manuscripts, Archives and Personal Papers.
The University Archives are constantly growing as material designated for permanent retention drops out of current use and is transferred to the University of Edinburgh. | Subjects: | Education Scottish History Archives | Source: | University of Edinburgh | Address: | Old College, South Bridge,
