This Valve has been thoroughly tested before leaving the Works, and no responsibility can be accepted for Valves used under conditions other than the above. Suitable Anode Volts 20-80. (printed on a paper label stuck to the skirt). MARCONI VALVE MADE AT THE OSRAM WORKS COVERED BY VARIOUS PATENTS. (acid etched on the glass). BBC TYPE APPROVED BY THE POSTMASTER GENERAL D.E.3. B3970 (acid etched on the glass). MOV Co. LTD moulded into ebonite base. 089 (written on the stem of the glass element support inside the envelope). MANU Marconi Osram Valve Company Limited. 1924 Osram Works, Hammersmith, London, England. This is a Marconi D.E.3. triode, which is a dull emitter version of the V24 itself a derivative of the 'R' type valve. The D.E3. has a thoriated, oxide coated, tungsten filament and was used in radio frequency R.F. amplifiers. It had an amplification factor of about 9, mu. This type of valve was also used in Western Electrical public address amplifiers.
By early 1925 this valve was produced with a bakelite skirt and the envelope was less pronouncedly domed it also tapered from bottom to top and by late 1925 it had no pintel at the top.
