This is a "Super Rotalix" rotating anode medical X-ray tube with Goetzte line focus coiled tungsten cathode. Although also called a Coolidge tube by the manufacturer this was their generic name for hot cathode tubes. The cathode is in the form of two Goetze line focus tungsten filaments. The anode is in the form of a cylinder of copper with a shaped tungsten insert. Electrons from the cathode strike the anode and are reflected at approximately 90 degrees and X -rays are emitted through the ground glass patch on the side of the tube. The anode was rotated at approximately 3,000 rpm so that the focal spot was active for approx 1/80,0000 of a second.
