"In the collection of Michael Rysbrack, Sculptor / CR edit" CRE RYLAND, William, Wynne; (English; 1732-1783) AFTER GUERCINO, Giovanni Francesco Barbieri, (Italian; 1591-1666) PUB ROGERS, Charles; (English; 1711-1784) From "A Collection of prints in imitation of Drawings", vol II, p. 108, for which Ryland engraved 57 plates; the notes and prints are mingled with original prints by or after the artists mentioned by C Rogers. Rogers worked hard to provide accurate information on the drawings he selected for publication. He established that Guercino had painted this subject twice: once for the Duke of Savoy and once for an altarpiece for the church of St Dominic in the city of Osimo. The original drawing was probably a study for one of those paintings, and is now in the Pierpoint Morgan Library, New York. | License: | http://www.hmag.gla.ac.uk/spirit/rights/ | Publisher: | Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, University of Glasgow | Rights holder: | Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, University of Glasgow | Subjects: | RELIGIOUS : SAINT : VIRGIN : IMITATION : DRAWING : RYSBRACK : ESSEX : VOLUME : SAINT DOMINIC : SAINT CATHERINE OF SIENNA : VIRGIN OF THE ROSARY : DOMINICAN : BLACK FRIAR : ANGEL : MUSICIAN : | Source: | Hunterian Museum | Creator: | Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, University of Glasgow | Identifier: | http://www.huntsearch.gla.ac.uk/cgi-bin/... | Language: | en-GB | Go to resource |
