Description: | KMI.18S. (Green and Lloyd catalogue number in white paint). Window placed in Westminster Abbey in 1913, to the memory of LORD KELVIN, G.C.V.O., O.M. (printed on a small label below the collage). MANU Unsigned. early 20th century This is a framed collage, which appears to have been cut from a photogravure print of the stained glass window in Westminster Abbey. It is stuck to a black ground. Despite the legend on the label there are only two small panels of the large window which are dedicated to Kelvin.These are situated below two lager panels which in turn are below a rose window. The first panel, which reads 'IN MEMORY OF BARON KELVIN OF LARGS' and bears the coat of arms of Glasgow University, is situated below a panel dedicated to Henry V. The other, which reads ENGINEER NATURAL PHLOSOPHER B. 1824 D. 1907 and bears Kelvin's coat of arms with the motto HONESTY WITHOUT FEAR, is below a panel dedicated to Williehm Abbot of Colchester.
