Description: | Specimen from William Hunter's (1718-1783) collection, cabinet label reads 'Hab: Nova Zelandia / Banks'. Joseph Banks (later Sir Joseph and President of the Royal Society) accompanied Captain Cook on his first voyage as a scientist. He probably collected many beetles and as well as retaining some for his own collection (now in the Natural History Museum.
