Description: | 'New Holland' [= eastern sea board of Australia] Australia This specimen is from William Hunter's collection. His cabinet was utilised by Fabricius and Olivier in describing many new species. The collection contains types from other contemporary eighteenth century entomologists such as D. Drury and T.P. Yeats.
New Holland (=Australia) locality indicates the specimen was collected on Cook's first voyage and orginates from Banks' collection. As a member of the family Pergidae it may be the first collected from Australia but was not described at the time. | License: | http://www.hmag.gla.ac.uk/spirit/rights/ | Publisher: | Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, University of Glasgow | Rights holder: | Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, University of Glasgow | Subjects: | ARTHINSECT : HYMENOPTERA : PERGIDAE : HUNTER 2007 : | Source: | Hunterian Museum | Creator: | Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, University of Glasgow | Identifier: | http://www.huntsearch.gla.ac.uk/cgi-bin/... | Language: | en-GB | Go to resource |
