Description: | RU inscribed with various notes DES MACKINTOSH, Charles Rennie; (Scottish; 1868-1928) W.J. Bassett-Lowke was Mackintosh's client for the refurbishment of 78 Derngate, Northampton. This design was probably used in Bassett-Lowke's study. The carcass of the clock was ebonised, the numerals imaginatively presented as dominoes, and the face inlaid with ivory and erinoid, a casein-based plastic, also used on the legs. The movement of the clock is French and the case was made by German craftsmen. | License: | http://www.hmag.gla.ac.uk/spirit/rights/ | Publisher: | Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, University of Glasgow | Rights holder: | Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, University of Glasgow | Subjects: | CLOCK : DESIGN : BASSETT-LOWKE, WENMAN JOSEPH : : CRM ONLINE : | Source: | Hunterian Museum | Creator: | Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, University of Glasgow | Identifier: | http://www.huntsearch.gla.ac.uk/cgi-bin/... | Language: | en-GB | Go to resource |
