Description: | AntU DES MACKINTOSH, Charles Rennie; (Scottish; 1868-1928) Mackintosh's last major domestic commission was for the interiors and furniture at 78 Derngate, Northampton, designed and executed between 1916 and 1920 for W. J. Bassett-Lowke, the model engineer. Internally, Mackintosh relocated the staircase, which was masked by a lattice screen in order to maximise the floor area of the small lounge-hall. The interior was then decorated in black on the walls, ceiling and much of the furniture, and the walls stencilled with this vibrant geometric pattern. | License: | http://www.hmag.gla.ac.uk/spirit/rights/ | Publisher: | Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, University of Glasgow | Rights holder: | Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, University of Glasgow | Subjects: | STENCIL DESIGN : 78 DERNGATE, NORTHAMPTON : BASSETT-LOWKE, WENMAN JOSEPH : MURAL DECORATION : LOUNGE HALL : CRM ONLINE : | Source: | Hunterian Museum | Creator: | Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, University of Glasgow | Identifier: | http://www.huntsearch.gla.ac.uk/cgi-bin/... | Language: | en-GB | Go to resource |
