The abstraction of the composition, its richly sombre colour scheme, and the dramatic imagery evoking Egyptian burial rites, make it one of her most powerful watercolours. 'The Glasgow Herald' (17 February 1921) called it an 'Egyptian mummy rite' when it was exhibited in Edinburgh. | License: | http://www.hmag.gla.ac.uk/spirit/rights/ | Publisher: | Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, University of Glasgow | Rights holder: | Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, University of Glasgow | Subjects: | DRAWING : WATERCOLOUR : FEMALE FIGURES : DEATH : PERFUME : CRM ONLINE : | Source: | Hunterian Museum | Creator: | Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, University of Glasgow | Identifier: | http://www.huntsearch.gla.ac.uk/cgi-bin/... | Language: | en-GB | Go to resource |
