Description: | RH label in file "Pittendrigh Macgillivray R.S.A. &c / Glasgow abour 1880" [probably in artist's hand] CRE MACGILLIVRAY, James Pittendrigh; (Scottish; 1856-1938) In February 1893 one of Macgillivray's closest friend, George Henry, travelled to Japan with another Glasgow artist, E. A. Hornel. Henry wrote frequently to Macgillivray during his time abroad, describing the country and its people.
