Description: | RU s. in pencil b.r. "CHAS R / MACKINTOSH / 140 BATH STR / GLASGOW"; inscr. b.l. "MUSICIANS / LAMP" DES MACKINTOSH, Charles Rennie; (Scottish; 1868-1928) The style of the drawing and the lamp suggest this fitting was intended for 'Miss Cranston's' tea rooms in Argyle Street. However, it is not known whether the lamp was ever made or for which room it was intended. Variations of the metal cube and dome fittings with glass inserts were later used in Mackintosh's own home and at 'Miss Cranston's' tea rooms, Ingram Street, Glasgow. | License: | http://www.hmag.gla.ac.uk/spirit/rights/ | Publisher: | Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, University of Glasgow | Rights holder: | Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, University of Glasgow | Subjects: | LIGHT FITTING DESIGN : MUSICIAN'S LAMP : CRM ONLINE : | Source: | Hunterian Museum | Creator: | Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery, University of Glasgow | Identifier: | http://www.huntsearch.gla.ac.uk/cgi-bin/... | Language: | en-GB | Go to resource |
