[Maltese Galleys], [c1650-1760]. - Ink, wash, col., oil?, on paper, laid on cream card; [sight] [trimmed to] 25x37cm. - Original, or colour washed over something printed, perhaps over an engraving?, perhaps overlaid when mounted on card as the top and side edges show bleeding of colour on card. - Part of a larger work? - Coat of Arms of the Knights of Malta, is positioned centrally below image; faded handwriting [iron gall ink?] visible either side; image keyed A and C. - Three Maltese galleys are shown attacking and setting fire to an Algerine pirate ship in a bay; open boats have drawn alongside, men ashore.
