Description: | Large Perspex sphere mounted on three wooden gimballed rings made originally to model polarization space. Glued on the inside of the sphere (which is made in two halves) are small aluminium plates inscribed with circles, ellipses, and lines, indicating the states of polarization. on outside of sphere are neon orange and pink circular stickers indicating x-ray reflection indices, a later use for the sphere; 360 degree, 4 inch diameter protractors placed on each gimbal axis enable the angle of rotation about that axis to be read. A reference pointer is secured to the outer ring.
