Description: | Black cloth covered aluminium open cabinet with front handles containing analogue computing units in bins. LH bin 5 summing amplifiers; next 5 integrators, next 2 bins 12 attenuators, 3 empty bins and on RHS Control unit with 4 channel analogue output, meter and switches for meter select and range, and bandwidth switch. Units plug into a backplane that is halfway across cabinate and in rear there is a light-weight power unit. No maker's name. Printed sticker on top 'Universtiy of Aberdeen Department of Engineering' with faded hand-written letters 'EMS 164?', possibly an inventory number. Two electrical testing labels from 1994 and 1998. Example of analogue computing used in the 1990s. It can be used to obtain the response of a system that can be described by some common kinds of differential equations, the units performing summing, integration and scaling (via the attenuators). Both positive and negative feedback can be incorporated via the summing units and attenuators.
