Description: | Sword, Double edged Basket hilt constructed of flat bars, grooved, and with inscribed lines parallel to the grooves, Junction and side plates pierced with 'key' patterns, Swirling designs radiating from centres of the junction plates, Ends of branches fit into a large and heavy conical pommel, pommel incised with grooves and semi-circles, The blade is encrusted and markings cannot be made out with exception of inlaid Orb and Cross on each side,A fragment of a back or wrist guard remains affixed by two rivets to the hilt, Grip is of wood with wide, deep spiral grooves, Inlay may be gold but probably latten or brass, Three fullers on either side, (Excavated condition)
