Description: | Sword with curved steel blade with one short fuller. Blade has seen use: sword cuts in the edge which is rounded from extensive sharpening. Blade wide near the point, narrow near the hilt; the back wide near the hilt and almost sharp at the point. Rusty and dirty. Hindu basket hilt but without the cushion. Langets with minaret shape and with cross-guard they form one piece riveted to blade and hilt. Guard has two floral designs chiselled on the top and bottom. Quillons flattened with two pointed ends facing downward and attached to the wide guard. The grip is narrow. Remains of black paint applied to the hilt, the guard, and the pommel. Circular pommel, joined to knuckle-guard, with projecting, slightly tilted spike. Scabbard of wood covered with black leather. Low relief grid design in the centre on one side and dotted frieze surrounding it. On reverse, centre seam is bordered with very faint linear designs. Scabbard broken at tip: chape missing, and other damage. Two bands at top of scabbard near mouth: lower band broken. Mouth also broken at sides and centre, exposing wooden base. Thick leather sword knot between the two bands is very brittle.
