Description: | Indian sword (talwar) with curved blade of Persian form in fine watered steel, the edge cut in fighting.
Hilt: of Jaipur enamel and walrus ivory. Cross-guard of silver decorated with floral designs in champleve enamel with blue, green, yellow and red; the ram's head quillon terminals enamelled in blue, damaged. Grip scales of walrus ivory (broken (all parts present?)) riveted to the tang. A small piece of pommel is missing. The pommel is small and thin and facing downward. A broken strip of silver enamelled in green covers the tang between the ivory scales. Gold braid wrapped round the hilt held the sword knot.
Scabbard: wood covered with gilded leather impressed with floral designs by string underneath. The chape and two lockets of silver enamelled with floral and bird designs. Lockets circular with flat mounts, a flower in the centre of each. Scabbard broken but repaired.
