Description: | A bar with a pin on the reverse with the following ribbons and medals : British Star (1914/1915), the Brirish War Medal (1914-1920), the Victory Medal (1914-1919), the Canadian Voluntary Service Medal (1943 onwards) and the Canadian War Medal (1939-1945). All the medals were awarded to Eric Leslie Marriott originally of Bulwell, Nottingham., A bar with five medals and a sliver pin at the rear. The medals are described in order from left to right, as follows: 1914/1915 Star: authorised in 1918 awarded to those who saw service in France and Flanders from 23rd November 1914 to 31st December 1915 and those in any other operational theatre from 5th August 1914 to 31st December 1915. A ribbon of three bands red, white and blue. Obverse: A bronze medal featuring a suspension loop above a crown, resting on the top of a wreath with a GV monogram at the base. Behind it two swords cross (crosses upwards) and at the central point of their crossing, in the middle of the wreath, a ribbon with the dates '1914-15'.Reverse: '64233/BMBR:E.L.MARRIOTT./R.A.F. British War Medal 1914-20, authorised in 1919, basic requirement, either entered the theatre of war between 5th August 1914 and 11th November 1918. Service in Russia in 1919 and 1920 also qualified for this award. The ribbon is blue, black and white on each side with a central gold stripe. Obverse: A naked man seated on a horse facing right, holding a sword in his right hand. The horse walks over a skull and cross bone and a shield. Behind the waves of the sea and above the man the sun, around the edge are the numbers '1914 - 1918'. The initials of the engraver are located just above the shield on the right 'W.M.M.' The medal has a decorative suspension bar. Reverse: Bust facing left. 'GEORGIVS V BRITT. OMN: REX ET IND: IMP: The engraver's initials can be seen in the base of the king's neck 'B.M.' Edge: '64233 CPL.E.L.MARRIOTT. R.A. The Victory Medal: The ribbon is rainbow stripped in mirror image. Obv. A gilt medal featuring a draped winged Victory standing facing right her left arm extended and her right carrying a laurel branch. Just above her left foot is the engravers initials 'W.M.M.' There is a simple loop at the top for a suspension ring. Reverse: a wreath with the legend 'THE GREAT/WAR FOR/CIVILISATION/1914-1919' in the centre. Edge: 64233 GPL. E.L.MARRIOTT R.A.' Canadian Voluntary Service Medal. The silver medal was authorised in 1943 awarded to all ranks in the Canadian Air Force who had served for a minimum of 18 months between 2nd September 1939 and 1st March 1947. Ribbon green and red bands on either side of a central blue stripe.,
