STOKE ROCHFORD SCHOOL CLOSE SK 92 NW 6/161 Nos. I and 2 G.V. II Pair of estate cottages. c.1840-5. By William Burn. Squared coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings, Welsh slate roofs with lead dressings, stone coped gables and kneelers, central ridge stack with 2 tall octagonal ashlar shafts (originally 4). T-plan. Single storey with attics, 4 bay front having a pair of rectangular ashlar bay windows with hipped stone roofs and 3 lights with chamfered mullions, flanked by single fixed lights in moulded surrounds. Over the bay windows are through eaves dormer windows with stone coped gables and 2 light chamfered mullioned windows. To the rear a single storey range to each cottage with tall pair of ashlar octaggonal stacks, and in the angle an ashlar porch with hipped roof and plank and muntin door.
