THE EARTHWORK REMAINS OF A HOLLOW-WAY AND A POSSIBLE HOUSE SITE RELATED TO THE FIELD SYSTEM (42814) TO THE S.{1}
An earthwork survey and trial trenching in 1998, centred on TF4098 8528, revealed that the features thought to be earthwork house platforms were most probably natural features reflecting the natural topography of the site or created and enhanced by the erosion of the 'hollow-ways'. The 'hollow-ways' themselves may represent trackways, silted-up drains or low-lying natural areas. Ditches recorded during the trial trenching would have drained into the junction of two of these 'hollow-ways', suggesting that they are in fact silted drains.
