[Note: this record includes former PRN 60549, now deleted.]
Romano-British pottery was recorded from this site in the 1960s along with numerous other Romano-British finds including tesserae, flue and roof tiles, building stone, coins, an iron ingot and a metal lamp. A possible earthwork surrounding the site was also noted. The pottery was spread over a wide area (4 or 5 acres) whilst the other finds were more concentrated. {1}{2}{3}{10}
Fieldwalking carried out over part of this site in 1995 recovered Romano-British pottery, quern fragments and oyster shells. A linear soilmark was also observed and it was thought that it may represent a building mark. However, it is actually the line of a recent pipeline. {8}{9}
Possible Romano-British cropmarks including enclosures and a boundary ditch are recorded in this area by the NMP. These features may form a settlement group and may be related to the possible field system complex to the south (PRN 60347). {6} | Subjects: | General Archaeology | Temporal: | 43 - 409 | Source: | Lincolnshire County Council | Identifier: | http://www.lincstothepast.com/Records/Re... | Go to resource |
