Description: | PRN 32900
Small hoard of bronze Constantinian coins mainly URBS ROMA and CONSTANTINOPOLIS. Thirty-three coins found on 18.12.1982 and a further five coins were found on 14.1.1983, by the Fenland Survey. {1}
Fieldwalking by the Fenland Survey also recorded a large quantity of Romano-British pottery (including Samian, mortaria and amphora) along with tile, rubble, glass, slag, oyster shells and possible quern as well as the coin hoard. A soilmark was seen at the site and nearby is a triple-ditched enclosure visible on aerial photographs. This is a large site which appears to represent a Romano-British farmstead, possibly a relatively prosperous and long-lived one. {2} | Subjects: | General Archaeology | Temporal: | 43 - 409 | Source: | Lincolnshire County Council | Identifier: | http://www.lincstothepast.com/Records/Re... | Go to resource |
