Stamford Union Workshouse is depicted on the Ordnance Survey County Series map of 1905.{1}
Three double-courtyard plan workhouses in Lincolnshire, those of Bourne, Spalding and Stamford unions, were by a local architect, Bryan Browning, who also designed the 'square'-plan Peterborough Union Workhouse. Of these buildings, only Bourne survives.{2}
Stamford Union Workhouse was erected in 1836-7. The main building has been demolished, but the infirmary of 1873 survives and has been converted to a residential function.{3} | Subjects: | General Archaeology Poor Law Unions | Temporal: | 1836 - 1930 | Source: | Lincolnshire County Council | Identifier: | http://www.lincstothepast.com/Records/Re... | Go to resource |
